So what exactly is Parkour?  Rather than come up with a biased answer based on my own personal experience, I'll turn the mic over to the experts.  AmericanParkour.com has put together a definition by consulting the community as a whole and has it posted on their website right here: http://www.americanparkour.com/whatisparkour

In the words of a great instructor of mine. . . it depends.  Are you jumping off of a building because you saw someone do it on youtube?  Then yes, what you call "Parkour" is dangerous.  Are you practicing in a controlled environment using proper technique, progressions and safety equipment?  Then, at least in my opinion, it's actually a fairly safe activity.  At AMParkour, option B is the only way we train our students.  Anything less would be irresponsible.

To see the equipment we train on, including the many different types of safety equipment on site, check out the Photo Gallery .

Yes.  One of the main focuses of Parkour is figuring out how your body moves in an environment.  People of all ages can benefit physically, mentally, and spiritually from Parkour if they train it in a way that is conducive to their health.  All activities in Parkour are scalable so that people of any age or fitness level can gain something from it.

Good shoes, a curious attitude, and a safety conscious brain!

Do I need to come to all classes?

Nope.  You can come to as many, or as few classes as you'd like.

Why don't you have classes on [day] at [time]?

Unfortunately I work full time, so day classes are out of the picture.  Therefore classes are only on weeknights and Saturday afternoon.

Are there any contracts/commitments/hidden fees/equipment to buy?

No.  $70/month or $10 per session.  That's it.  Oh, and you have to drive here.  I'm not picking you up from your house.  So yea, gas.  The one "not-so-hidden" fee.  : )

Where can I train outside?

Any property you own.  Public property such as parks where it is not off limits due to local laws.  Private property where you have express written consent from the owners to train there.  Remember to always be aware of, and courteous to other people in your training area.  Every one of us is responsible for Parkour's reputation in the community.

Why should I train Parkour?

Because it's fun!  Because it's a great workout!  Because it challenges you mentally, physically, and emotionally!  Because of the great people who train with you!  Because it's different!  Because you don't get to climb on things at the office (except for that one scene in "The Office.")  Because it makes you look at your surroundings in a whole new way!  Because it's affordable (or free if you just train outside).  And mostly, because if you don't, you're totally boring!  Totally.
